Theme Day Dec. 2008 - Circles/Spheres: Singular bricks?

These bricks are found in sidewalks all over Lexington, in various colors, and various states of decay. I have been told that the pattern is unique to the town, but that seems hard to believe. The graphic has been reproduced in jewelry and other items sold in local shops as well.

Have you seen this pattern in brick anywhere else? If so, please leave me a comment.

Beautiful pattern and colours on those bricks.
It's my 1st visit to your blog and I really enjoyed what I saw. Great photos!

Those are beautiful and no, I've not seen them anywhere!
I'm thinking of bringing the kids up for the Christmas at the Stonewall Jackson house on Saturday. I'm weighing my options, we have a local Christmas parade in Fincastle or the Jackson house. The Jackson house sounds right up my alley! Ahhh decisions, decisions!
I really do enjoy your photos, keep it up!

Well, I knew I recognized this when I saw it. Here are two photos I took along side my Dad's childhood home in Sugar Grove, OH. As a kid myself, I loved to ride my bike over these lumpy sidewalks!

Jill, I knew these bricks had to be other places, too. I'll have to find out where they were made. Now I can be the know-it-all in town who can say that they're also in Sugar Grove, OH. (Actually, I'd better not.) That sidewalk looks challenging.

Just browsing through your older posts and noticed these beautifully colored bricks. It's great when simple objects are decorated more than strictly necessary. I love the color combination. Very well spotted.

Thanks, Marc. I agree that little details like this can make a big difference. People here are very attached to these bricks.

Perfect symbol of LexVegas. I wear my Sylvan Spirit Lexington Brick necklace almost every day to remind me of my favorite place on Earth.
